Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum. True cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka. Cinnamon is originally grown wild in the central hill country of Sri Lanka. Ceylon Cinnamon is known for its great aroma and properties and it is naturally lighter and sweeter. Ceylon cinnamon is milder than Cassia Cinnamons and less potent. Ceylon cinnamon is also lower in oil content and it is more healthy than Cassia cinnamons. Cinnamon usage dates to ancient Egypt and has been historically used in traditional medicine. Cinnamon has many proven health benefits. Cinnamon is a perfect spice for baking, cooking, making a pleasant tea, and even a cocktail. Ceylon cinnamon is perfect for making cinnamon black tea.
